The Psychology of Music Appreciation
How do we experience beauty in music? What is the psychological basis of music appreciation? We study the cognitive and cultural foundations of sensory valuation and aesthetic experience, in particular of abstract and dynamic subjective stimuli such as music. We are also interested in understanding how collective aesthetic experiences emerge from individual brains and social interactions. We study the psychological basis of music appreciation by combining a wide range of methods to measure behavioural, physiological, and brain responses.
